ProCare Hand Therapy Portsmouth NH
What is Hand Therapy, and How Can They Help You?
Certified Hand Therapists (CHTs) are Occupational or Physical Therapists who, through advanced hand therapy training, specialize in the rehabilitation of patients with conditions affecting the hands and upper extremities. They have a high degree of specialization that requires advanced certification and extensive continuing education and training.
A CHT is able to work with a variety of upper extremity conditions from traumatic injuries including fractures, tendon and nerve lacerations and amputations, to those more chronic in nature such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, and arthritis. Our therapists establish ongoing communication with referring physicians to provide the highest level of collaborative care.
Research has shown that early intervention with hand therapy accelerates the rate of recovery and promotes a more rapid return to independent function. The goal of our therapists is to work with patients from start to finish. Beginning within the first few days following an injury or surgery, to their return to a productive lifestyle including work and sports.

“I had head, neck and scapular pain for approximately 4 years, with worsening headaches. I have had physiotherapy in Australia, acupuncture in China, numerous massage therapies in China and USA, Chiropractic care and many visits to doctors. My life is back on track because of the attention I received at ProCare. From day one, I noticed a difference. Before attending ProCare, I thought I was going to have to live with the pain, but now I have my life back.”
